Our family law practice covers a full range of services, including:

• Divorce – We assist clients in contested and uncontested divorces, addressing key issues such as equitable distribution of property, division of assets, debt allocation, spousal support as well as child custody, visitation and support issues when relevant. When post-divorce motions for qualified domestic relations orders (QDRO) or other orders involving retirement accounts are necessary, we stay the course until all matters are resolved.  Our team is committed to guiding clients through the process with clarity and compassion, while protecting their rights and interests.

• Spousal Support – Financial support after separation can be critical. We represent both those seeking spousal support and those being asked to provide it, focusing on fair arrangements that comply with Virginia law and reflect the realities of each client’s situation.

• Child Support – We help parents establish, enforce, and modify child support obligations to ensure children receive the resources they need. Our attorneys provide clear guidance on Virginia’s child support guidelines and advocate for fair and workable outcomes.

• Custody and Visitation – Custody disputes can be difficult for parents and children alike. • Adoptions – Most of the time, adoption is a positive and life-changing event for both the child and the adoptive parents.  Sometimes, though, adoption of a child is sought without the consent of a birth parent and can result in termination of parental rights. Our team assists families with navigating Virginia’s contested and uncontested adoption processes, ensuring compliance with the United States Constitution, Virginia law and the best interests of the child so that the path to adoption is smooth and secure.

• Guardianships and Conservatorships – When an adult is no longer able to make decisions due to incapacity, families may need legal authority to step in. We help clients establish guardianships and conservatorships that allow them to care for and protect their loved ones, while honoring their dignity and rights.

• Negotiated Agreements – Planning ahead can provide peace of mind and prevent future disputes. We draft, negotiate and review prenuptial and postnuptial agreements to ensure that they clearly outline financial expectations and protect assets in the event of separation or divorce.  If a married couple decides to divorce, we can help draft and negotiate a Marital Settlement Agreement, which becomes the cornerstone of an uncontested divorce process and can eliminate much of the emotional and financial strain from the process.
• Modifications – When there is a material change in circumstances, it may become necessary to request a change to the existing court order in place for custody, visitation, spousal support or child support.  Our Team can assist you in the process of requesting an update to your Order as the needs of your family changes over time.

• Appeals of Family Law Matters – When a trial court’s decision does not align with the law or evidence, our attorneys handle appeals in family law cases. We carefully review trial records, identify errors, and advocate for fair outcomes before the appellate courts.
